April is a very special month for the indie community as we celebrate the work of indie authors. We read, lend, purchase, review, share, or highlight books written and published by independent authors and small presses.
As an indie author myself, it's time to play my part and celebrate my fellow indies by sharing some really great books with you. I hope you choose at least one or two to read and enjoy! If you'd like more indie book recommendations each month, and to know what I thought of the books below, do check out Turn the Page: The Indie Book Podcast.

So, onto the BIG NEWS! My first book, Spellbound: A Fantasy Short Story Collection is almost ready to publish! This book is a short story collection that's perfect for fantasy lovers. Spellbound is a collection of ten short stories, each containing magic in one form or another. From mischievous werewolves and revenge-thirsty demons to haunted houses and Vampires who aren't afraid to bite, this compilation of flash and short fiction explores what happens when the magical meets the mundane, and the sparks it creates as they entwine. Starring a cast of diverse characters who's hopes and flaws bring these stories to life. Ready for more? Keep reading to check out the shiny new cover! Do you like your sapphic romance with a hint of magic?
If the answer's a big old 'yes', keep reading! This week, I want to share a quick review for a book that I finished reading last week.
I was scrolling through Kindle Unlimited looking for an eBook to read alongside my current hardback novel - I like to read hardbacks/paperbacks when I'm downstairs and eBooks in bed, simply for the fact that my poor face has had far too many heavy books dropped onto it and my Kindle isn't quite as heavy! Plus, the backlight helps. - and I stumbled across Ethan & Jag Destroy the World by Maz Maddox. The cover really caught my eye and the book sounded like a fun, light-hearted read, and it didn't disappoint. Are you a new writer?
Maybe you've already started writing, maybe you're still working on the idea for a story, or maybe you already have a completed first draft. No matter where you are in your writing and book publishing journey, trust me when I say that I understand how scary and overwhelming it can feel, which is why I'd love to share with you some of the resources that have been absolutely invaluable to me since I began working on Sparks Fly back in 2016! Happy Valentines Day!
Whether or not you celebrate (I personally don't) I wanted to share with you some of my all-time favourite paranormal romance novels to help spice up your day! So, without further ado, here's my list: Have you ever been reading a book when the author drops a fact-bomb on you that leaves you a little stunned, or pleased that you've learned something new?
This has happened to me a few times, and I love it., especially when it's a small detail you wouldn't have really noticed, but you're glad the author took the time to research and include. So, while writing Sparks Fly, whenever I came across something I wasn't 100% sure of, I took off down the research rabbit hole to see what I could find. |
